We want to make sure you have the best experience during your year here in Portland & have planned lots of fun & culturally enriching activities. We look forward to getting to know all of you. Intern & Host Family Coordinator
Bento Lunch: Delivery on Thursdays
Oya No Kai (ONK) – Parent volunteer group for the entire Japanese Immersion Program. Fundrraises for the Iterm Program, Cultural Exchange Program and Scholarships for students going to Japan on the 5th, 8th, and high school trips.Organizes the Annual Auction and up to three general meetings per year. Participates in harvest and Spring Festivals, Mochitsuki Portland, Natsu Matsuri at Uwajimaya.
Parent Teacher Association (PTA) – Individual school parent volunteer group. There is a PTA at Richmond, Mt. Tabor, and Grant schools. Fundraisers for student activities and school materials such as assemblies, field trips, computers, etc. Organizes various events at each school. For example at Richmond, the PTA organzies the harvest and Spring Festivals, Run for Richmond, Teacher Appreciation Week, and more. They have also purchased new computers and arranged for assemblies.
Foundation – Individual school parent volunteer group. There is a Foundation at Richmond, Mt.Tabor, and Grant schools. Fundraisers for staffing only. Activities at each school varies. At Richmond, the Foundation organizes the Restaurant fundraisers and more. The Richmond Foundation (RSF) funded part of Teacher Debie’s PE positions, for example.
